Over the years, Father Allen Doerksen has served in several dioceses and multiple parishes in western Canada. He loves conversation and would welcome a phone call or an email. Better yet, a chat in his study or at a local coffee shop!
Fr. Allen's passion is the development of spiritual community around the Mystery of God, as expressed in the best of the Great Tradition and the ongoing development of human knowledge. He finds the Anglican expression of Christian community particularly conducive to this passion. Anglicans are typically unafraid to ask hard questions and express their doubts and misgivings, while, at the same time, remaining loyal to the inclusive nature of our tradition. All of which makes for great conversations!
Beyond mutual fellowship, Fr. Allen strongly values the role of the priest as spiritual mentor, confessor, and counselor. He certainly doesn't claim to have all the answers, but he loves exploring and discovering helpful approaches to life and faith together with parishioners and spiritual seekers . In that respect, he offers pastoral counseling, marital counseling, marital preparation, as well as baptismal and confirmation preparation. He is experienced at biblical, theological, philosophical and psychological inquiry and has taught several biblical and theological courses in academic settings.
